Diversity of Supply Chain and Risk Management
Our thoughts go out to all those impacted by Hurricane Helene. The devastation was unprecedented in some areas, and we wish all a speedy and complete recovery.
The storm reminds us that the majority of the U.S.’s cane refining assets sit in storm-vulnerable coastal geographies and that a lack of supply diversification is a clear threat to the food chain.
Apart from weather, factors such as crop conditions and port/border disruptions could also affect the supply chain.
Neither Hurricane Helene nor the upcoming port strike, regardless of its duration, will disrupt our ability to deliver high quality liquid sucrose to our customers.
Sugaright customers continue to acknowledge our high reliability through their loyalty and increasing market share.
How do we achieve such a high level of service?
We practice the diversification of supply that we preach – ‘diversity of our supply powers our reliability’. Our trading partners within CSC-Sugar source sugar from 20+ partners worldwide.
We carry strategic quantities of inventory, 8 weeks at a minimum, at our sites or supporting locations to provide certainty of supply.
We demonstrate our commitment to enabling adequate supplies in the future. As evidence of that, we will be completing the construction of a new 100,000 SF warehouse in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania in May of 2025 that will hold up to 100K MT’s.
We have a network of seven refineries that provide supply redundancy, enabling us to react quickly to changes in the marketplace.
All of our refineries have refinery plant & maintenance leaders committed to a proactive mindset of asset care. In addition, we have talented operational and maintenance professionals empowered to execute.
Our refineries are located near a large concentration of customer demand reducing transportation risk in the supply chain.
We work with multiple carrier resources, in addition to our own, with various resource allocation strategies to ensure the availability of trucking capacity
One of our Sugaright values is to measure our success through the eyes of our customers.
The past few years have been tough reminders of how fragile our food supply chain can be through unpredictable events. And so we appreciate our customers who understand the value of service, reliability of supply, and diversification of sourcing.
Our goals are the same; to assure a safe and adequate food supply to the nation even during times of challenge.
